Taking care of the environment through medical waste disposal solutions
CK Dental is happy to be in partnership with Medasend Biomedical (www.medasend.com) to provide both the healthcare industry and home generators a simple, cost efficient and convenient way of disposing of a variety of medical waste. Customers first order containers from the Medasend website. Then, they fill the container(s) and when they are filled, all the customer has to do is package it in the ship-ready box that came with the container and leave it for your USPS mailman. This system is 100% approved by the EPA, OSHA, DHS and USPS. The days of having to deal with annoying contracts and smelly truck drivers are over.
CKDI is an extremely environment-conscious company, and we are doing everything we can to push to both the healthcare industry and home generators the great importance of properly disposing of dangerous medical waste. To date, solid waste workers have been getting injured by home-generated sharps and voluntary local programs to remove dangerous waste from the recycling system has been ineffective.
Senate Bill 1305 (SB 1305) was passed in September of 2008 which states that any business with over 15 employees must incorporate regulated sharps containers on-site. It also prohibits the disposal of sharps in household trash. Home generators must now dispose of all needles and related waste into sharps containers.
What types of waste can be disposed of? Medasend offers different containers specifically designed to safely hold a variety of medical wastes:
Sharps (needles and syringes, scalpels, hypodermic and acupuncture needles, blades, endodontic files, burs, root canal files, blood vials, broken glassware, flasks and beakers, IV tubing, exposed dental wires, culture dishes, Pasteur pipettes)
Red Bag Waste (contaminated IV bags, gloves, gowns, band aids, gauze and cotton balls)
Amalgam (dental amalgam, separator traps and sterilized teeth)
Mercury (mercury cleanup materials, thermometers, mercury amalgam, light bulbs, batteries, breakers, relays, switches, electrical components and thermostats)
Medasend also offers special containers to dispose of battery waste and lead foil waste.
